Instructions for wire butterfly bookmark craft:
Step 1:
Trace an outline of your very own butterfly pattern on a piece of paper, making your choice in butterfly size and style. It shouldn’t be too complex, and you can follow the general idea of the image below.
Next, take the craft wire. You can choose either silver or gold (copper) wire, depending on your preference.
Create a twirl on the open end, as seen in the photo below. To make this twirl use the top twirl pattern of the butterfly drawing below as your guide.
Step 2:
After completing the twirl, trace the wire along the straight side of the butterfly drawing. Draw the wire upwards to form the wing part, as seen below.
Step 3:
Now, follow the upper wing pattern with the wire.
Step 4:
Use the flat nose pliers to press the bend between the upper and lower wings. Draw and trace the wire along the lower wing pattern.
Step 5:
Now draw the wire along the inner wing pattern.
Step 6:
Your next step is to trace the wire along the outer circle of the inner twirl.
Step 7:
Leave enough wire to create a twirl pattern and then cut off the wire from the bundle.
Step 8:
Use the remaining wire to create the twirl pattern inside. Then use a small jewelry hammer to flatten the wire butterfly to give it a finished look.
This bookmark craft is not only a fun and creative way to mark your place in your favorite book but also makes a lovely gift for Christmas or Mother’s Day.
