The Secret to Being Happy
What is the Secret to Being Happy?
We can read 100 self help books, parenting books and follow the newest fads in child rearing. We can get a hobby, have time with friends or meditate. We can lose weight, look younger and have perfect children. But it’s never really enough to make us, or keep us, happy. So what is the secret to being happy?
Being happy, truly happy, is all about choice. There’s no big secret. (There. Aren’t you glad you don’t have to read all those self help books?) We as moms, keepers of the home, have to decide to live with joy. It sounds simple. But when you’re faced with everyday challenges and sometimes life altering situations, joy can often be the first thing to go.
Life is unpredictable, colorful, messy even – like art! Let’s celebrate the art in every day.
(Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci)
Some days are serene. You’re happy, content, and smiling like a Cheshire cat.
Girl With A Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer
Other days you feel unsure and confused. You’re checking over your shoulder, wondering if anyone is watching you mess up.
The Scream by Edvard Munch
And some days you just want to scream.
Seated Woman by Picasso
Or perhaps your days are so upside down you don’t know what you’re looking at!
Angry Sea by Thomas Moran
Maybe you had an angry day – unforgiving and harsh.
The Water Garden by Childe Hassam
In every day – the calm ones, the confused and frustrated ones…even in the angry ones, there is beauty. We need to open our eyes and see the COLOR of the world around us and be thankful for the beautiful picture that is LIFE.
What are you doing to capture the beauty of today?
