We used this last year in our co op and my kids really enjoyed it. It did move fast and we needed to slow the pace just a little bit. We also liked using the online tools for games and review offered by CAP. Highly recommended.

I've used Latin for Children with four different children now. My first run through this program when my teenagers were young was *my* first Latin exposure. It was a family subject and even Dad got in on the act. We chanted together so much even the 3yo could sing many of the chants flawlessly. LOL

This is a parts to whole approach, and grammar heavy. Once they had such a thorough grammar coverage with CAP products they could very easily apply it to other Latin products or situations. We had a disagreement once that I didn't have the knowledge to settle. We used that Ask the Magister button on the CAP website and got an answer back from Chris Perrin himself. The kids were so excited to contact Chris that they didn't care about the argument anymore.

I heartily suggest getting the whole package of resources. If you have a child that really can't stand puzzles like crosswords, wordsearches, and such, do skip the Activity Book and just use the free download of worksheets instead.

Headventureland.com has free review games keyed to the chapter in LFC, and for a small yearly fee even more games and videos.

Latin for Children is a wonderful introduction to Latin. We enjoyed all parts of this program, the DVD, reader, activity guide, and the free helps on the website as well. Gentle yet rigorous - nice foundation for high school Latin!

We are using/have used LFC Primer A along with the DVD. I love how the curriculum is laid out, and the explanations are well done. Both of my kids have enjoyed/are enjoying the curriculum, and they're definitely retaining the information. The activity book especially is a wonderful supplement. The only criticism I have is that there are times when students are expected to complete activities that aren't explicitly explained; there were a few times that I had to really study the book to figure out exactly what they were supposed to do (ie, the first time they were asked to translate vocab words that were inflected--with the endings--there were no examples or clear instructions to explain that that's what they were to do). A teacher's manual with examples and more guidance would be an excellent help. Overall, though, I recommend LFC highly.

Having no Latin experience myself, I have been learning along with my daughter. We worked through Primer A when she was in 3rd grade and Primer B this past year (4th grade). As we worked through, I'd get to a point where I felt like after the next chapter, it was all going to be to much, and then *every time* the next chapter was a review chapter, or really just built the smallest increment on the previous chapter, and I never got to the point where it was overwhelming! With Latin for Children, there's no need to be afraid of teaching your child Latin!

We LOVE Latin for Children! Our two middle kids have been using it for two years now and not only are they learning Latin, but their English vocabulary and understanding of grammar, derivatives and root words has grown exponentially. I highly recommend this program!
