Trish is the owner of Hip Homeschool Moms. She also owns Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers, Homeschool Travel Adventures, Only Passionate Curiosity and Love These Recipes! She has been married to her best friend, David, for 25 years and they have three sons (ages 23, 22 and 18). Trish is from the coast of North Carolina, but they now live in rural West Tennessee on a 40+ acre farm. She has been homeschooling since 2009 and her homeschool style leans towards a Montessori approach with a heavy emphasis on hands-on learning. Trish’s family is Messianic and they love studying the Scriptures, learning Hebrew and growing in their faith and walk daily. In her spare time, Trish loves to travel, write, work in their garden and can regularly be found trying to learn something new, modeling that learning is indeed a life-long endeavor!

This program includes unique ideas for helping children learn to write their letters and numbers without frustration, tips for the left-handed child, discussion on why it is important to teach capitals first and why standard handwriting paper just confuses children. Expansion of Civilization covers both Western and Eastern Civilization. It is an in-depth study of the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. Students will learn how a great empire rises, and how it falls. Studying the art, music, architecture, and literature will greatly contribute to their study and help them to realize exactly what took place.
Creative Freewriting Adventure
Freewriting exercises can help even students who don’t like to write produce amazing, creative work — no preparation work is required; simply set the timer for 15 minutes and get writing! An introduction is given, and is followed by a “journey” that sets the stage for the writing assignment, which asks students to describe the scene, background, dialogue, and incorporate the senses into their writing.
Some exercises are taken directly from the Philosophy Adventure course and are based upon a Greek philosopher; additional exercises based upon The Wise Woman by George MacDonald and Scripture are also included.
