Homeschool Burnout

Hi! I’m Wendy, and I’m tired! And I’ll bet I’m not the only one! By the time February rolls around, many of us are getting tired and feeling burned out. The holidays are behind us, and it seems like the remainder of the school year is stretching waaaaaay out in front of us. It’s still winter in many parts of the country, and you may be getting cabin fever being stuck inside with kiddos who just need to burn off some energy outside!

This is the time of year when many homeschooling moms start to feel really overwhelmed.

Like the entire year has been a failure.

Like giving up.

Homeschool Burnout.

But I’m here to tell you that what you’re feeling is completely normal! Yep. You are not alone. Even though we may feel burned out and tired and discouraged this time of year,  we know that we can’t always act on our feelings!

How many times have you corrected your children for acting on their feelings instead of thinking things through? Well, we moms sometimes need to step back, think about our choices, and make informed, well-thought-out decisions instead of giving up because we feel tired or discouraged. Feelings pass, but the decisions we make now for our children are important and life-changing.

All of us at Hip Homeschool Moms have been homeschooling for a while. Some for a few years and some (like me!) for nearly 20 years. But regardless of the number of years we’ve homeschooled, we’ve definitely each faced challenges and discouragement. However, we’ve all kept at it and persevered! And we want to encourage you to do the same thing!

So whether you’re a brand new homeschooler or you’ve been homeschooling for many years, we hope you’ll stick around this month for ideas and information about burnout and what to do about it. We don’t have all the answers, but we’ve found that sometimes we don’t really need all the answers. We just need a few ideas or resources. Or maybe just some encouragement. To know that we’re in this together.

Do you feel tired and burned out? Do you have questions we might be able to help you answer? Do you need ideas for solving a problem or moving past a road block you’ve hit in your homeschool? Or maybe you have encouragement to share with other moms who need it. No matter which category you fall into this year, we want to hear from you! We want to help you finish your homeschool year feeling encouraged and accomplished!

Our mission is to help moms like you homeschool your children successfully. And while we know that looks different for different families, we also know that it’s easier to do what needs to be done with the support of others. We’re here for you. Be sure to leave your question or comment below! We’ll do our best to help you– because that’s why we exist.
