The Latin Alive! series is a relevant, rigorous, yet engaging introduction to Latin for middle and high school students. This Latin curriculum will truly make the Latin language come alive both for students who have studied Latin (such as students who have completed the Latin for Children curriculum) and for those who have not been introduced to Latin.

Written by experienced and enthusiastic Latin teachers, the Latin Alive! series provides complete Latin training that enables students to read and translate original Latin. The Latin Alive! series features a unique blend of grammatical training and engaging reading of original Latin texts that will help maintain student interest and impart skill, capacity, and mastery. Where other curricula downplay training in grammar, the authors of this series have found a way to teach grammar so that students understand and enjoy it. The authors present Latin grammar in small, digestible sections that are clearly illustrated and explained.

For grades 9 and up.

Four levels available, level 1 to level 4.

Latin for Children Primer is an engaging, incremental and creative text designed for students as young as 3rd grade. It contains clear explanations, illustrations, exercises, tests and a useful reference section, as well as a wealth of mnemonic aids (songs, chants) to assist mastery of vocabulary and grammar.

Recommended for grades 3-7.

Three levels are available, A-C.

Volume 3:   Early Modern Times: From 1600 to 1850, the modern nations of the world were developing—and your students are there with this engaging read-aloud story of civilization. Learn about explorations, revolutions, discoveries, and inventions on every continent and across the seven seas!

Volume 4:  The Modern Age: This narrative history covers 1850 to the present day.

Every month, follow our characters Sam and Sofia as they embark on a new country adventure. Your first month’s Explorer Kit arrives in a suitcase and contains everything your child needs to get started: a letter from Sam and Sofia, a map, a passport, stickers, access to online games and more. Country specific packages filled with fun souvenirs, letters, stickers, photos, activity sheets and more arrive every month thereafter.

Times Tales is a creative, innovative, mnemonic-based program that makes it fun and easy to memorize the upper multiplication and division facts. Cute, simple stories provide students with a “memory peg” that allows them to quickly and easily recall otherwise abstract facts. Times Tales covers the most difficult to remember facts that can’t quickly be calculated by skip counting: 3×6,3×7,3×8,3×9,4×6,4×7,4×8,4x 9,6×6,6×7,6×8,6×9, 7×7,7×8,7×9,8×8,8×9,9×9.

Students are introduced to each number as a “character.” For example, the number seven is Mrs. Weeks because there are seven days in a week. Once students learn the number characters, they learn short, simple stories where the numbers interact in some fashion. Students simply picture two number characters together to recall the story, which includes the answer to the multiplication fact. It’s amazing how much easier it is for students to recall a simple story, than an abstract fact!

Spelling-You-See levels:

Listen and Write: Your child is beginning to experience the printed page and needs your help to develop concepts of how spelling works and how letters are formed and put together to make words.Listen and Write is a fun and natural way to ease your child into the world of English spelling. In this level your child will learn correct pencil grip, correct letter formation, consonants, and short vowels. Listen and Write will provide your child with the foundation they need to become confident, competent spellers.

Jack and Jill:  Jack and Jill uses fun and engaging nursery rhymes to teach spelling skills and introduce new words. Nursery rhymes tell a story, helping students develop an understanding of simple narrative sequences and provide expanded opportunities for vocabulary development. Easy to say and easy to learn, nursery rhymes add an indispensable auditory component to this level.

Wild Tales:  Wild Tales will continue your student’s journey through the skill development stage of spelling. For the first seven weeks, your student will continue to work with the nursery rhyme theme from Jack and Jill before transitioning into nonfiction passages about animals beginning in Lesson 8. Students will read a passage with the instructor each day. Guided reading helps readers of all ability levels become familiar with the passage. Students will also “chunk” the appropriate letter patterns indicated for that day’s lesson and will have opportunities for copywork, free writing, and writing from dictation throughout the week.

Americana:  In Americana, students will read nonfiction stories about American history and culture while learning to spell new words in an interesting context. Americana utilizes the three core activities of Spelling You See: chunking – which provides hands-on experience with English’s many irregular letter patterns, copywork – which requires the brain to pay attention to details in print, and dictation – which gives an opportunity for student to demonstrate decoding and encoding in a meaningful context.

American Spirit:  American Spirit continues to guide students through the skill development stage of spelling. Students will read about various people and events from American history, with a gradually increasing reading level. At the same time, the emphasis on the mastery of everyday words continues, building a strong foundation for the next stage of spelling. Just as in the previous level, American Spirit utilizes the three core activities of Spelling You See: chunking – which provides hands-on experience with English’s many irregular letter patterns, copywork – which requires the brain to pay attention to details in print, and dictation – which gives an opportunity for student to demonstrate decoding and encoding in a meaningful context.
