For the Love of Christian Homemaking: A Review

My sweet friend, Mrs. Sharon White, gave me a copy of her book, For the Love of Christian Homemaking, to read and review. Having read her blog for several years, I knew that I liked her writing style and was very willing to read the book. I was not disappointed!

HHM Homemaking Book Review

The book is described as a collection of short “visits from Mrs. White’s parlor during her homemaking breaks.” As I read the book, I could tell that keeping her home is truly something that she enjoys doing. My attitude toward housework tends to be rather negative. It’s just not something that I enjoy very much. It was fun to read her book and get a glimpse of her attitude toward housework since she truly enjoys taking care of her house, cooking, cleaning, sewing, and all of those things that go along with keeping a house. In fact, she talks a lot about how she enjoys doing her work and how it gives her a feeling of peace and contentment when her house is neat and orderly.

Throughout her book, she describes what she does and how she feels not only while doing her work, but how she feels once it’s done and she can enjoy relaxing in a clean, orderly, comfy home! She even describes things like how having small children in the house makes keeping things clean a challenge, but it ads so much joy to the home as they run and play and do all the things young children like to do. She talks about how Bible reading and praying are important for a mom’s attitude and contentment. She describes getting her children involved in housekeeping while still leaving them time to play and relax. She tells about how she enjoys being home and what an honor it is to serve her family.

I have to say that I was inspired by Mrs. White’s attitude toward work. She has definitely caused me to look at housework in a different way. She didn’t share housekeeping tips, recipes, or how-tos, but she shared her sweet attitude toward her family and her work, and that’s just what I needed! If you’d like to buy a copy of her book for yourself (or one for a friend), you can find it on Amazon. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
