We’ve all felt it…the feeling that we need to do more, be more, cram more things into our homeschool day. Is it possible to achieve great things in our homeschools without working too hard or doing too much? Tricia Goyer gives her hard-earned insights on concepts such as these (and so many more) in this encouraging, interesting, and uplifting interview. Tricia is a homeschooling mom of over 27 years, writer of more than 80 books, popular speaker, and mentor to teen moms. How does she find time to do it all? That’s exactly what you’ll find out when you tune in to today’s podcast. Tricia shares her heart and wisdom regarding what is and isn’t important to accomplish in her homeschooling day, the curriculum that she loves, and what she believes is the most important focus for her as a homeschooling mom. You will love Tricia’s refreshing attitude and supportive approach as she relates the importance of reading aloud to your children, getting help when you need it, and setting priorities that will encourage you rather than discourage you. Tricia shares her heart about not falling prey to comparison. She relates her thoughts on celebrating strengths rather than focusing on weaknesses. In short, if your homeschool needs more joy and less stress, you will definitely want to hear what Tricia has to share!

Quotes from Tricia Goyer
I love writing. Writing is fun to me! It is joy. It is creative. It gives me energy.
We don’t do a lot of outside activities with sports and signing the kids up for all the things. I’ve had seasons in my homeschooling life where I did that and was running like crazy and was super overwhelmed and I don’t feel guilty.
Having older kids has really helped me to see…that when they’re adults they will grow into the things that God has created them to do and I don’t need to run all the places with all the kids all the time.
Following the rabbit trails is so important!
When I’m at peace and I’m having fun the kids are having fun, too.
If there is a hard season, don’t beat yourself up for not getting everything done. Just figure out what you can do, what you enjoy, and do that. It’ll be ok. It’ll all work out.
If a child’s emotional brain is turned on, their thinking brain is turned off. If they are emotional, they can not think. If they are crying, you can’t get them to sit down and do a math sheet.
I utilize people around me so it looks like I’m doing everything…usually, if you’re wondering how someone is doing it all, it’s probably more than one person.
I don’t have to have everything perfect.
I don’t have a Pinterest house. I have a very lived-in house. I’m never going to impress someone with how the living room looks and everything is matching, because its not. You just have to pick your priorities.
Instead of comparing our weaknesses to someone else’s strengths, we can all celebrate each other’s strengths.
