Pure Play Kids Review & Giveaway {Closed}

Today my 11-year-old daughter made some soap using the Kiss Naturals DIY Soap Making Kit from Pure Play Kids. After I read the directions, I realized this kit was so simple to use, that I would allow her to make it alone as I was supervising.

One of the neat things that my daughter enjoyed immediately about the kit is that it had a little bit of “trivia” about each DIY product they sell. She learned why soap is so slippery, what Shea Butter is and where it comes from, what makes bath fizzies fizz, and the origin of perfume. All this, and we hadn’t even opened up the box yet!

Once we opened up the box, we found the kit inside, which contains:

  • 2 blocks of Glycerine soap
  • 2 bottles of essential oils
  • a soap mold
  • stirring spoon
  • dropper

After inspection of the kit elements, my daughter was able to complete the kit in about 5 minutes. There were three very easy steps for her to do in order to make the soap. First she melted one of the Glycerine bars in a saucepan, next she added in and mixed the essential oil, and lastly she poured the mix into the heart shaped molds. The soap was completely set and ready to use in just 1 hour!

A very easy but fun project from start to finish. The only thing that I would caution is to work with the melted Glycerine very rapidly as it started to “harden” up rather quickly. Other than this, everything else ran very smoothly. I would highly recommend this kit for a fun departure from a regular school day, as a fun weekend project, or even as a kit to make a unique gift for a loved one’s birthday or other gift-giving occasion.
