Hey Homeschool Mom, Are You Overwhelmed Also?
With …
Homeschooling.
Cooking.
Cleaning.
Grocery shopping.
Laundry.
Errands.
Paying bills.
Church obligations.
Family obligations.
And that’s only part of the list!
Most of us also serve as unofficial family doctor, chauffeur, and field-trip coordinator.
And many of us work outside of the home or have work-from-home jobs too!
To be honest, I’ve had times recently when I was almost on the verge of panic. I’ve felt tired, stressed, overwhelmed, and unfocused. I think all of us have days (or weeks! or even months!) when we feel that way sometimes. When I feel that way, it’s easy to question God. After all, God could heal my severely autistic daughter if He chose to. And He could heal my son who has Asperger’s and my other daughter who has ADHD. (And while He’s at it, He could make them all a little more compliant! 😉 ) He could bless us with the money to hire a housekeeper to help get things done. He could make me more organized and efficient so I could get more done in less time. There are so many ways God could alter my situation to make life easier for all of us! Yet those mountains remain unmoved.
For a long time–many years–it upset me that God didn’t do something. Change something. But lately I’ve started to realize that I may never know (until I get to Heaven) why God doesn’t change my circumstances. I don’t think it’s wrong to ask God to heal my children or change my circumstances, but I do think it’s important to stop allowing myself to be frustrated or upset when God doesn’t do things my way. Why? Because only God can see past my current circumstances to the future. Only He knows why I have to go through certain things at certain times. And only He can make sure that everything in my life and my family works out for the best for all of us!
Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
2 Corinthians 1:4, Paul wrote that “God comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”
Thank you for the encouragement. My biggest prayer need right now is my health issues. Also, healing for my heart, and mind, my children included.

Love this. So nice to know I’m not alone in being completely overwhelmed sometimes.

You’re welcome, Ashley! I’m so glad!
I feel so behind now that we have 5 kids. I feel guilty because my bigs are not getting enough of me since the baby and toddler take up so much time.
This post represents me perfectly!! I get overwhelmed quite often!!
Thank you for a great reminder this morning; it was just what I needed to hear.
