Apologia Human Anatomy and Physiology

All creation is awe-inspiring, but the work of the human body, created in the very image of God, is especially jaw-dropping! This study of anatomy and physiology showcases the intricacy and design of the human body, from DNA and cell creation to the skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous/endocrine, immune, and intergumentary systems. Integrated with health and nutrition information, as well as plenty of scripture and biblical application, this complete guide to the human body is written in an enjoyable, conversational tone that will keep kids engaged. Experiments, notebooking assignments, narration, and a "personal person project" provide interaction with concepts outside of reading, and help to solidify understanding. 265 pages, hardcover. Index and answers to the narrative questions are included.

This curriculum provided enough information to learn about the complexities of the human body without being overwhelming. The activities were easy and fun.

We used it in a coop setting, adding dissections. We didn't use a lot of the projects in the back.

This was one of the first things I bought when we pulled our daughters out of school. They absolutely loved it! The hands on components were fun for them and really helped them retain what they were learning.

We used this book with the accompanying notebooking journals and some suggestions from spelloutloud.com for adapting to younger learners; and had fun learning about human anatomy. While I've found the elementary Exploring Creation series doesn't fit my teaching style, my kids love to read these books and I wish we had the whole series.

This one was requested to be done again.

We had a really good time using this book. Labs created fun family memories; kids learned and retained.

This is a very comprehensive text on Anatomy for Elementary Aged kids. I'm not sure they retained all of it, as there is a lot of new terminology, but it is SO thorough and I feel it definitely gave them a good overview of human anatomy and a good introduction to the complexity of each system. I also like that it ties how God created all of these amazing systems into the text.

I had to tailor the curriculum more to where my daughter was. The information was a little to detailed for where she currently is. I outlined the chapters at a higher level and it is working great for us. I will circle back to the more detailed information at a later time. I will continue to use Apologia for other science.

I started it with my 5th grader but we had to stop to concentrate on my oldest kiddo's science and we went with another curriculum but we plan to come back to it and add the lap books to it. My youngest son is interested with anything with the human body and we intend to dive back into it with both of the boys. I love all the detailed information and we can pull in other books and make it even better.

This has become a "right of passage" in our home for 6th graders. My oldest daughter used the textbook, audio CD (for pronunciation of words like Mitochondria), and the Notebook. She learned so much, that when she was at the Orthopedic Doctor, and he told her what she had injured, she explained to him the bones, muscles, and ligaments involved!

Then my son was in 6th grade, and ready to use this curriculum. I knew he would not like the notebook--it's just not his thing. So I found a mom who has lists of vocabulary words and tests. He did not use the CD, but did very well reading it himself and typing the vocab, then taking the test. He finished it in only four months because he liked it so much!

This, to me, is the gold standard for elementary or middle school Anatomy!

In the thick of this currently, and it's the same quality, multi-sensory curriculum I have come to expect from Apologia. It's spawned an appreciation and curiosity for the miraculous human body, making a historically dull and cerebral subject interesting and approachable to young students.

Lots of good information about anatomy. Kids 9&10 enjoyed this curriculum. We did some of our own experiments and created our own journals. Although, we ended up just discussing aloud what we were learning by the end of the book.

Our co-op had chosen to use this book during my daughter's first grade year. I loved the book, but it took extra effort to simplify the content for the early elementary aged children in the class. I wish we could have used it during 4th or 5th grades.

Great study. I purchased the journal for the first time with this series and found that it mostly created busy work, and the valuable projects were less memorable because so much of it was already created in the purchased journal. My students learned better when they created their own journal.

This was the first time I have used Apologia. My son is fascinated with how the human body works so I decided to try it. We have loved it. It keeps bringing you back to the magnificence of God's creation and there are more experiment recommendations than you can do so the choices are great. We are excited to use other titles by Apologia.
