Freewriting exercises can help even students who don’t like to write produce amazing, creative work — no preparation work is required; simply set the timer for 15 minutes and get writing! An introduction is given, and is followed by a “journey” that sets the stage for the writing assignment, which asks students to describe the scene, background, dialogue, and incorporate the senses into their writing.

Some exercises are taken directly from the Philosophy Adventure course and are based upon a Greek philosopher; additional exercises based upon The Wise Woman by George MacDonald and Scripture are also included.

Home Art Studio homeschool art curriculum DVDs are designed to increase students’ love and appreciation for the visual arts while providing an opportunity to improve their abilities to problem-solve, think creatively, and express themselves artistically. Art history lessons are also integrated throughout, as well as cross-curricular suggestions for math and social studies. Each level has two student workbooks, but the teacher handbook is the main component of the program. All instruction is provided through one-on-one teacher instruction, which is the biggest difference between Horizons and the self-guided Lifepacs.

Another big focus in Horizons is hands-on learning using a variety of manipulatives, which can mostly be found around the house: pencils, pipe cleaners, play or real money, thread, a timer, clock, yardstick, etc.

Bible Study Guide for All Ages is an in-depth bible study in 416 lessons. The Student Pages guide you through each lesson and come in four levels covering ages 3 through 6th grade. The Beginner level (for ages 3 – Kindergarten) and Primary level (for 1st – 2nd grade) require a parent’s guidance throughout the lesson. The Intermediate level (3rd – 4th grade) and Advanced level (5th-6th grade) may either be guided by the parent or completed by the student on their own.
