Times Tales
Curriculas 8821
At the end of the day, there's no getting around the fact that the multiplication tables must be memorized. Some people are more wired to memorize numbers--in which case Times Tales would not benefit--and others are more wired to memorize stories. If your child falls in the latter category, this may be a helpful add-on to learning multiplication. Your child will still need instruction on what multiplication IS and WHY/HOW it is done but Times Tales is a memory aid--nothing more. But that's all it is designed to be, so for that, it is fine.

Pros
Creative stories
Cons
only selected problems represented, some students will find stories too cheesy to be interested in memorizing them, seems just a different kind of 'hard' to memorize a story rather than to memorize the multiplication facts
Do you recommend?
for the right learner, yes, but not for everyone.
