We have used IEW for years now, but not as in depth as I would have liked. I watched the original TWSS years ago and we implemented some components. We have used SWI-A, PAL-W, and parts of the ancient, medieval, and Early American history programs. We also just started using Fit It! I wish we would have toughed it out more indepth and utilized more of the website's recources. My oldest is finishing 7th grade and I have four more children so as I grow and learn more, I know we'll continue to grow in our IEW usage.
Used this for my 6th grade son. Absolutely loved it! He went from tears in 5th grade, to feeling like a competent writer! Used TWSS with the Student Writing Intensisve Level B. Loved the Composition Checklists used after each writing assignment. Very appealing to a more structured, analytical learner. Loved it so much that we are continuing with the Continuation Course Level B. Couldn't have been more pleased with the curriculum.

Pros
So helpful for a learner who has an analytical mind
I attempted to use the SWI without purchasing the TWSS - twice - and failed both times. I finally decided to buy it last year and am so glad I did. It just opened my eyes to the structure of the Student Program and gave me clear steps to take to help my kids. It has been invaluable for our success with IEW this year.
We have used IEW for writing for years and I cannot say enough good things about it. It has turned my struggling writers into confident young men. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality and easy to follow writing program.
I am a practicing lawyer, which requires extensive writing. I had been unable to find a curriculum that I believe taught children to write correctly from the beginning... Until I found IEW. I cannot say enough about it. My oldest was in private school until 6th grade. I was very unhappy with the way she was taught to write. She has been in various writing classes, including college English 101. Despite receiving straight As, she does not have a solid grasp of basic concepts. I will be doing IEW with her next year in 11th grade. This course is WELL WORTH the money.
