Common Uses for Sandpaper

  1. Smooth Surfaces – This is the most common use for sandpaper–filing down rough edges on wood and more.
  2. Unstick Scissors– Have scissors that stick? Use them to cut through a piece of sandpaper to remove sticky residue and help sharpen the blades.
  3. Keep Cats Off Furniture – Lay a few sheets of sandpaper on your couch to deter Kitty from getting on your furniture. Cats dislike the gritty feel on their paws.
  4. Open a Stuck Lid – use a piece of sandpaper for better grip and traction to remove a stuck-on lid.
  5. File Your Nails – Can’t find an emery board? Use fine grit sandpaper instead.
  6. Better Traction – Roughen the soles of your shoes for better grip.
  7. Deter Slugs – Place a sheet under your potted plants (make sure it’s larger than the pot) to deter slugs from climbing.
  8. Scrub Grout – Make that bathroom sparkle with sandpaper. (Be sure to only scrub the grout, not your tile, with sandpaper).
