Providing students with an overview of world history from creation to the present day, Exploring World History from Notgrass Company is a full-year high school course that presents history from a Christian perspective. This course is comprised of two primary texts and a volume of primary documents. Each textbook unit is filled with conservational chapters and many full-color photographs of archival images, artifacts, and locations. In addition to reading the history narrative about events, issues, and people from around the world and across the centuries, students will read original documents, speeches, poems, and stories in In Their Words. They will also read classic literature (in books obtained separately) that help bring to life the time periods they are studying. Units begin with a summary and list of lessons, memory work, books used, and a project. Each lesson ends with readings from the book In Their Words, additional literature assignments, and instructions for questions and quizzes (quizzes and tests themselves are in the sold-separately Exploring World History Quiz & Exam Pack).

This updated 2014 edition features hundreds of color illustrations and photographs. In addition to a thorough survey of Western Civilization, it offers expanded coverage of Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

150 lessons; 50-60 minutes on each subject each day (total of 2.5-3 hours per day). This course, when all assignments are completed, provides one credit of world history, one credit of English, and one credit of Bible.

This is a wonderfully written World and Biblical history combined with English and Bible assignments that can be credited for high school. We appreciate the excellence of writing, photographs, original documents and student guides. One reason we chose Notgrass was because the assigned book list included classics. The online links provided by them is very helpful to me as a teacher. Highly recommend.

I have used it this year in the co-op setting teaching 15 students from 9th-12th grade. The books were very easy to use and to work with in the class, but having some more visual students, I had to get additional maps and visuals to help them understand certain place, events and/or people. I would suggest adding some of these either in the textbooks or separately to accompany the textbooks for easier understanding and studies. One more thing, towards the end of the book, I would like to have seen more lessons on modern history (war on terrorism, current situations/events in the world, etc.) Overall, good curriculum.

My brother and I studied this subject together, though we are a grade apart and found it to be very informative and intriguing. It challenges students to think and to dive into what they know and why things are the way they are. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

My kids love all of their products and so do I. They are easy to use, have beautiful pictures, and tell the truth about history from His Story. My special needs daughter is able to work on her own. It not only covers history, but Bible, and English as well. Excellent price for 3 subjects all included! Couldn't ask for a better program. My daughter can't wait to work on history each day. I have to pull her away from the book to eat lunch!

We had always used A Beka curriculum and really enjoyed it but as my son entered high school we both wanted a change from all of the quizzes and tests that seemed to come around every couple of days. I came across Notgrass and thought it looked great so we tried it. My son loves it and said he wanted to use Notgrass for 10th grade as well. I'm so glad we found this curriculum. It's easy for my son to follow and daily assignments are clearly laid out and explained.

The text is written to the student which is fabulous! I personally use this text to teach a high school co-op. Every year we have between 15-20 students grades 9-12. Every year I am amazed at how many the students say the chose to be in the class because they struggle with enjoying history, yet by the end of the year many agree that they really did enjoy learning world history with the help of Notgrass!

My daughter really enjoyed the 2007 version. She completed the entire set through Ancient History (9th grade) and World History (10th grade). Even when our lesson plans instructed her to skip lessons, she did all of them. Looking forward to using the 2014 this year with my 2nd daughter.

I've been homeschooling for 18 years already and thought I would have to write my own World History. I've done it all, every popular curriculum you could think of for History, I've bought it, read it, and something was missing. Then I found knotgrass. Perfect 10! That is not to say I agree with everything he says, but I do not have to change the curriculum or ad-lib the commentary, to insert my thoughts, or correct someone else. This curriculum is fact based written, not opinion based. The opinion is stated, but in the end, not all the way through. Having a degree in History and English I appreciate the work done on this course very much. Coupled with the beautifully bound books, an entire book filled with source documents to read so the student can be taught to analyze properly(That other curriculums just cite), worthwhile literature selections, these are high quality materials. To me its a perfect 10!

We knew we wanted to use this curriculum, so we left room in my daughter's schedule to use this as three courses: World History and Geography, World Literature and Composition, and Bible Literature. She loved doing this every day. The schedule becomes fairly predictable, and I found it helped her to budget her own time weekly. The assignments are clear as to what is expected each day for a five day week. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of projects at the end of each lesson: writing, art, crafts, drama, and more are available. The student makes their own choice each week, and all the options are excellent. Choosing the short writing assignment several times helps prepare for longer compositions. Notgrass provides detailed instruction in the book as to how to go about writing a term paper in the second semester, and it was perfect for us, as it was her first one. We will refer to their daily timetable again to stay on track with a large composition project like this in the future. She was quite independent, even going on the computer to print her own assignment and grading sheets weekly, after I did it for the first two weeks. It taught her to keep a well-organized notebook for a class and follow a course schedule by herself. I thought the literature was well-balanced between what might be taught to public schoolers and Christian perspectives and readings. She also memorized Bible verses weekly.

We truly enjoyed this curriculum for world history. We felt like it was very interesting. This was our first year homeschooling and it was very helpful because the lessons were already mapped out for you, as well as the projects and questions. I enjoyed doing this with my daughter, even though she is a very independent learner. We loved reading the Hiding Place and North and South. We ended watching the movies for that as well. She had a great time doing the cooking projects and I enjoyed the different meals that she came up with.

I have already recommended it to others. We like it so much that we are doing the Exploring Government and Exploring Economics next year.

My sophomore did this curriculum last year and gained a great sense of knowledge from the year's worth of history woven with the Bible. He did the history and Bible text and questions by himself and we had class on the literature. We did trade out a couple of books for others but the Cat of Bubastes, which was definitely written in a different era he found to be interesting. I like the exposure to Shakespeare and The Art of War was my son's favorite. We did not do the projects each time because we had two other writing classes that he was taking. We did a large term paper at the end of the year and it was good to see all that he had gained from the books. With all that is going on in the world right now he has a better grasp on why and how we got here than I did at that age.

My 10th grade daughter used this independently. I am happy that is 3 credits of subjects in one curriculum for a very reasonable price. I was not too keen on some of the literature selections, but we substituted where I wanted to. She did not care for the projects at the end of each chapter, so I allowed her to use another writing curriculum. I would think a student who did like hands on or history would enjoy the projects very much. She is not a history lover, but did not complain about any of the reading and did quite well in the bible portion.
