I have used this curriculum for two years to teach both of my kids. I find it to be a very comprehensive program that explains the why's behind the math. I can't believe that such a good math curriculum can be so affordable. I'm thrilled with Mammoth Math and will stick with it.

I have purchased and used Math Mammoth for my 4th to high school tutoring business. I use the summer workbooks year round supplementing students who may need more time in a concept or that wants to move ahead.

I love the depth of the curriculum knowing all material for a grade is covered in them thoroughly. I purchased the PDF version and simply send them to a local printer to get the books I need. Math Mammoth is very helpful if any bugs are found (which I have not found any) or updates to packages.

A great home school or tutoring program for me especially for Summer Brain Drain....it really keeps students at grade level if the student diligently works the grade finished in the spring all summer.

Great for independant learners. If you are not a math savvy teacher, you may need more supplementation so you feel confident in teaching the subject matter, especially in higher grade levels.
The curriculum is extremely thorough and allows more higher level thinking than basic common core.

As a former math teacher in the public school system, I have seen a good amount of math curricula that catered to classrooms. As a homeschool teacher, I have tried to find a good math program that fit my children's teaching styles. Being that each of my daughters have very different learning styles, I found that Math Mammoth's ease of use, presentation and coverage of topics, and practice opportunities have met each of their needs...and mine! I like that it is a work-text and it is quite affordable. I have shared Math Mammoth with fellow homeschool moms looking for a good math program, and they are now using it, too!
It's a great curriculum---I highly recommend it to any family teaching multiple grades with a variety of learning styles.

My daughter, 1st grade, was struggling with math so we switched to Math Mammoth to give it a try. She is a visual learner and this has been perfect for her. We also love doing the various activities together that are suggested at the beginning of each chapter.

I've searched for years to find a math curriculum here in the UK that would help me teach math in a logical structured way. Most resources are designed for schools who follow rigid time scales and seem to be haphazard in their structure with one subject taught one day and another the next without building on knowledge. Math Mammoth has so far proved to be the exact opposite, starting with a foundation of knowledge then building on it. My 10 year old struggled with times tables but in a few weeks completing the light blue multiplication books now knows them by heart. My youngest has also taken to math in a big way since we started using this and has moved up early to 2nd grade. I love that an international version is available so currency and measurement are in pound sterling and metric.

Can not speak highly enough of Math Mammoth. This curriculum is super affordable. My son is so into math and he thoroughly enjoys MM. We like the way topics are covered and the layout of the book. The digital format is not my favorite but I got it for cheap during a sale so I really can't complain, but once we finish off the next level we will buy the bound workbook instead, variety is nice and atleast it has it so it can appeal to multiple types of people. The pages aren't cluttered with alot of pictures which may bug some people but my son gets so distracted when there is a lot of unneeded things on a page so it helps us alot. Sometimes if there are a lot of problems I make him do enough to show mastery and then move on so he doesn't get fatigued but otherwise it's perfect. SO glad I found MM, I wasted so much time and money on the wrong curriculum!

Lots of free samples available online to preview material. I showed those samples to my brother who is a high school math teacher and he said, "This is good, get the program!" We did and we have been very pleased. We like the mental math exercises. My husband is a high school chemistry teacher and is always grieving over the students' lack of math skills. This program is set up to teach math concepts in a logical, methodical way. All math builds on previous concepts so resist the urge to race ahead. It is much better to go a little slower and get a firm foundation. BUT if you do later find there are gaps in your child's understanding, the Blue Series materials are about particular topics (i.e. fractions) so you can easily go back and focus on that area by going right back to the basic concepts of that topic.

There are great suggestions for math games and further resources. My Kindergartner was bored with K math so we just jumped right into grade 1 and he loves it.

Maria Miller actually answers her email so if you have questions, ask. She has been remarkably helpful.

We've only used the dark blue series as catch up after pulling our daughter out of school. It is working wonders for bringing her up to the grade level she should be at. Looking forward to trying the light blue 5th grade soon.

I loved the value for the money, love the support Maria Miller offers online at her website (plus loads of freebies), and love the fact that she teaches each concept from many different angles and approaches, so that the student is not left with mere rote as the only foundation for arithmetic, for instance. She connects concepts to each other, and never wastes space: even the practice exercises call for the use of mental math skills that she has taught previously, to keep those skills fresh and avoid the tendency to rely exclusively on the calculation algorithms where mental figuring would suffice. I love the flexibility to purchase by single topics, or by entire grade levels aligned to current standards.

If you want to discover any weaknesses and address them, her free assessment tests will detect those, and her free samples of worktexts either by topic (Blue Series) or by nationally-normed grade level (Light Blue Series) will let you try before you buy. Even then, the price is so low, that the risk is minimal.

Whether your purpose is making sure that your child has a strong conceptual foundation from the beginning so as to avoid problems later on, or to prepare for doing well on nationally-normed standardized tests at a given grade level, or to make sure your child has no holes in his or her abilities before entering school, or to detect and remediate existing conceptual weaknesses before moving to the next level in math, Math Mammoth suits the purpose.

Although the size of the worktexts may look intimidating at first (two hefty books per grade level), there is no fluff or wasted space in Math Mammoth: they are large because they remove the need to keep up with or find a separate textbook, workbook or notebook, and teacher's manual, by incorporating ALL the conceptual explanations, graphics, and teaching, along with activities and practice, AND space to do the calculations, in the worktext. Therefore, the teacher/parent (or older, more independent student) can simply "open and go" and taking the lessons on the go is as simple as putting the worktext (or the printed sheets for that day) into a bag along with a pencil.

No lesson planning, preparation, or gathering of separate workbooks and textbooks, needed.

It should be noted, however, that this is not a spiral approach, but a mastery approach. However, additional practice worksheets can be downloaded and printed off, free of charge, from her website or as part of the downloaded bonus packet that comes with the purchase of Math Mammoth as a download, such that returning to a skill for review later, is easily accomplished.

My daughter finally TRULY understood long division with remainders, and what remainders actually are (as opposed to just memorizing rules about what to do with which number) thanks to Maria Miller's 3rd grade Multiplication review worksheet that I downloaded from her site. If I could have a do-over for my daughter's math education, I would have started with Math Mammoth from the beginning. However, we have had success at overcoming areas where my daughter lacked conceptual mastery, since using it.

Lastly, some find Math Mammoth to be too thorough, or slow to get through. Again, there is flexibility to suit the individual student: you can assign only a few problems for each topic, for the swift learner, or in the case of a child whose level of challenge is not met by grade-level materials, use the topical Blue series instead, and work at their individual level of challenge.

Best of all, for those who feel shaky on certain math topics, you not only do not have to become an expert in them first, for your child to learn very well using Math Mammoth, but you will probably find yourself understanding things now, that never made sense before, by learning alongside your student. I certainly wish I had been taught this way, as a child, but it's never too late!

Pros
Affordable, thorough, incremental, conceptual, mastery-based, all-in-one (open-and-go, no prep needed). Downloads allow for repeated use by all your children in turn, so an unbeatable bargain for a quality product.
Cons
Time-consuming and costly to print dual-sided in color and have spiral-bound; massive and a bit intimidating when faced as a whole printed worktext at once; may be too slow for the gifted math learner who wants to zoom ahead and doesn't need much practice
Do you recommend?
Absolutely. At the price, you can't go wrong... most products are a bit of a risk because they are costly. This is very low-risk to try out. For kids who have "holes" or weaknesses in certain areas, it is a great way to identify and remediate those proble

The samples I was given to look over before purchasing were very helpful. Maria contacted me a little while later to ask if I had been able to look over the samples and offered to answer any questions I might have. Once I purchased the curriculum I never felt hesitant to contact her with questions, which she always answered in a timely manner.

The curriculum is very thorough and has tests and cumulative reviews that make evaluation a breeze.

I have used this program for the past three years and have been very pleased. I am a former elementary school teacher who decided to homeschool my own kids. I love that it is a work text so the instructions and examples are given at the beginning of each lesson. There are plenty of practice pages for each concept and you can print more if you need them. My daughter is bright in math and so we tried another curriculum as well, but found Math Mammoth to be more comprehensive and she prefers it. Maria also suggests games and links for further practice. This is a great curriculum at a fantastic price for homeschool families.

I used this curriculum with my two oldest when we pulled them from public school. We were able to fill in the gaps and get both of them to enjoy math again! My oldest is now in advanced placement math in high school and the second is right behind. I really appreciate Maria for her amazing ability to respond so positively. She helped me so much with figuring out a game plan on getting my students back on track. Thank you.

I have used Math Mammoth as a supplement and appreciated the very clear way of explaining math concepts. It's active and engaging for the student. Rather than reading about what they are going to do, they do the math process in tiny steps that make them feel successful even while they are still learning. (For example, writing a short word a few times to demonstrate multiplication)

I have used Math Mammoth at various times with all three of my children. Each one learns differently from the next (ADHD, dyslexia, math hater) but all three found Math Mammoth easy to use, not too much in the way of problem solving, and very clear on the explanations.

I like it because, besides the reasons given above, it fits our small budget beautifully and I can purchase and download only what I need - instantly. We have used the Light Blue series the most, but when a child needed extra help with a topic it was so simple to buy just the topic they were stuck on and give them that extra help!

Maria's newsletter is always interesting and helpful, too. I would suggest signing up even if you're finishing out your year with a different curriculum so you can see just how talented this lady is at making math understandable.

I recommend this program without any hesitation. I love it. Maria manages to approach concepts from many different angels, in way that has a lot of depth. When you finish with it, you understand it. She doesn't skim over things and give a shallow overview.
