  • Developmental Mathematics

Developmental Mathematics is composed of a complete workbook series progressing, level by level, through the basic elements of arithmetic into the beginnings of algebra. As a self- teaching program, Developmental Mathematics is ideal for self-paced learning, both accelerated and remedial. The student’s progress is tracked and monitored periodically through Scoring and Performance modules. Its teaching methods cultivate independent thinking through deductive-reasoning and problem solving. Mathematical concepts and computational skills are presented clearly and concisely to allow students to advance independently. In each lesson, the student is taken from the lowest level of knowledge to the highest level of mastery. Developmental Mathematics can be used as both a full curriculum and a supplemental aid.

There are 20 workbooks in the series, that go from K-12 grade.  Levels 1-16 cover elementary and middle school math, with 17-18 covering Algebra I and 19-20 covering beginning Geometry.

ALEKS is a complete math program. It allows your child to master individual skills and quizzes them to confirm mastery. If it is a new skill, the child can ask for an explanation. The parents receive emails weekly to show the child’s progress. No grading or worrying your child is missing skills! Customer support is great.

  • Apologia Advanced Chemistry in Creation

Deepen your understanding of Chemistry with Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Advanced Chemistry, 2nd Edition. This rigorous course covers stoichiometry (with limiting reactants), thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, redox reactions, solutions, atomic structure, orbital hybridization, molecular orbitals, molecular geometry, chemical equilibrium, and nuclear chemistry. An introduction to organic chemistry is also included, focusing on the major functional groups, organic nomenclature, and polymer chemistry.

28 hours of lab exercises are provided, including the rate of an iodine clock reaction, distillation, chromatography, the common ion effect, measuring pH changes in a buffer, the electrolysis of copper sulfate, polymerization experiments, and the hydrolysis of sucrose. When a student has finished this course (designed to be taken after a college-prep course), he or she will be prepared to take an AP or CLEP exam.

Color illustrations help keep concepts clear, while study questions, laboratory exercises, module study guides, and extra practice problems ensure that concepts are properly understood, and may be practically applied.

Prerequisites: Algebra II and a Chemistry college preparatory course such as Exploring Creation with Chemistry.

  • TruthQuest History Beginnings

TruthQuest History puts God back at the center of the past. Centered on “living books,” this creative approach to history integrates elements of both Charlotte Mason and Classical methods. Short, very informal introductions are written directly to the student and open up each topic with a distinctly Christian perspective. Suggestions for activities or writing exercises are often included as well. The booklists follow, with selected annotations on what pages or sections to read and appropriate grade levels for each entry. Incredibly flexible in nature, families can proceed at the pace that’s best for their students as they select “spines,” biographies, in-print books, and out-of-print classics from the extensive lists.

Proceeding chronologically, entries include lists for Cain and Abel, Hammurabi, Mummies, Hieroglyphics, King Solomon, Hezekiah, Persian Empire and other relevant unit-study topics.

Grades 5-12; may be adapted for younger siblings. 298 pages, softcover, spiral-bound.

Full resource list is included at the back of the book.
