We have used Teaching textbooks for 5 years with my mathematically minded son. It was the perfect fit for him from the start. It includes just enough practice and problems to learn each concept, while the spiral approach keeps previously learned concepts fresh. As recommended on the web site, you will need to use the assessment to see what level is best for your child. Please know that you can't be completely hands-off with this program. The discs give you the ability to see which questions your child answered right or wrong and how many tries that it took to do it. If a child didn't understand a concept, reviewing might be necessary. I also recommend administering the quizzes in the book without using the disks. You would be able to see if a child was just guessing answers during previous lessons.
