The Bible is a collection of sixty-six books in two parts—the Old and New Testaments. Our God’s Great Covenant series dedicates two student editions to the Old Testament and two to the New Testament (the fourth book is in production). In this series, we focus on teaching younger children the overarching story of the Bible, which features God bringing a people into redemptive relationship with Himself by means of a grand covenant. We also show how this great covenant is realized by means of many promises and their fulfillment. We teach the Bible chronologically, presenting students with an ongoing stream of stories that make up the larger story of God’s redemption of people. Chapters in the books feature key facts, a story, Scripture to read, passages to memorize, and meditations on the character of God.

There are 4 volumes, each written for a third to sixth grade level.

Hewitt’s Lightning Lit guides use full-length novels, autobiographies, plays, essays, short stories, and poems to teach deep reading and composition skills. The Mystery of History is a four-volume world history series, which will take you around the globe through the study of chronological events. (It is recommended but not necessary to complete the volumes in the order they are written.)

But more than that, lessons in The Mystery of History are like fragments of a mosaic that, when put together, reveal a much bigger picture and tell a much larger story—one that points toward God’s plan for mankind.

Young students learn the major characters and events through hearing the Bible, stick figuring the passage, and answering questions about lessons. The method for young children is Hear-Draw-Review.

Once students reach first grade we introduce them to the timeline of biblical characters and events. The first lesson in these studies are the timeline, then each subsequent lesson relates to a character or event on the timeline. The method for older students is Read-Draw-Review. With each progressive age, we attempt to introduce students to more Scripture, basic Bible geography, and how to use Bible study skills such as a Bible dictionary.

Levels are:  Traceable (PreK), Beginner (ages 5-7), Level 1 (ages 6-8), Level 2 (ages 8-10), Level 3 (ages 10-12); Level 4 (ages 12-14)
