My one recommendation with this curriculum is that you buy the storage box from the company. I've used one bought from the store and none of them fit the cards properly and cause damage. This makes you lower your prices for resale.

Pros
Hands on and very interactive.
Cons
Time consuming to set up if you don't leave it out, and chances for lost pieces with younger kids.
Do you recommend?
Absolutley! The pros outweight the cons!

We have used levels 1-4 so far and have enjoyed this curriculum. It has actually helped my 1st grader learn how to read as well as spell! I love the thoroughness of the program and the built in review. Makes it so easy for mom to just open and go. My kids don't enjoy the tiles so we don't use them. It can get a bit tedious so we are careful not to bog the kids down with too much.

This is a great program for my dyslexic son. It really reinforces spelling concepts in a way that no other program does. It is an open-and-go program, which is very helpful because there is very little pre-planning involved.

AAS is an easy to use, hands-on approach to teaching spelling to children. The curriculum can be used with any aged child and is best if used with the first book moving forward. I love that the CD teaches the individual sounds that each letter makes. Most adults are likely unaware of all of the sounds certain letters have depending on the placement and spelling. If you are looking for a multi-sensory approach to spelling, this curriculum is for you!

A great way to teach phonics without all the workbooks. I love that it is not grade oriented, but a move at your own pace curriculum.

I bought AAS level 1 for my dyslexic son and it worked wonders for him. He did have a hard time with all the writing, so we had to adjust lessons for him. I did really like the explanations for the spelling rules.

Was extremely time consuming. Stopped using the magnetic letters and all and went to writing on dry erase board. Neither my son nor I liked this, didn't fit our learning styles.

I love the All About Spelling program. Have gone from level one almost finished with level 4 now. My favorite part is the way it teaches the reasons why things are spelled the way they are and rules to help you remember those ways. My only difficulty with the program is that I have toddlers as well and a bunch of little magnet letters on a big white board are just so hard for little fingers to resist!

I taught my first child to read with a simple primer and while it worked, it wasn't exactly pleasant. I used All About Spelling (we've completed all but 10 lessons in level 4) to teach my 2nd child how to read. I can't imagine teaching phonics any other way. The program is so fun and engaging and teaches phonic very well. It has made me a better reading teacher. My daughter loves the program and is a fantastic reader. By the end of level 3 she was able to read Ramona books all by herself. It also teaches literary elements, a little about poetry, and more. I can't recommend it enough.

Mine has some special needs so what is not working with her really has nothing to do with the program, just her style. Even with that she has learned so much and I think we will continue to use it, we just move a bit slower :)

Love this curriculum! I've used several others, but this is the only curriculum in which I have had a fifth grader asked to use it and start from the beginning when watching a younger sibling use it. This curriculum flows well into Phonetic Zoo for older students.
