Homemade Alphabet Soup Recipe

Sharing is caring!

Winter is definitely soup time! What is better than a steamy bowl of soup on a chilly day?

Alphabet Soup is a yummy and fun dish to eat. So many possibilities in the bowl… words, sentences, poetry! And even if you don’t let your children play with their food (Hey, this is educational, right?) you’ll have a nutritious meal on the table in 15 minutes!

This is an easy recipe for children to put together (my eight-year-old can make it!). I intentionally chose ingredients that are simple for kids to manage.

Of course before any cooking happens, it is important to discuss kitchen safety! The main safety concerns with this recipe would be using a can opener and managing the boiling soup. If your child isn’t ready to navigate those tasks alone, be sure to supervise closely!

Kids can easily help rinse the beans before adding them to the pot.

They can also measure and add the frozen veggies. (See the recipe below for complete directions.)

And don’t forget, you can always sneak a little school into lunch time using those pasta letters! Who says school can’t be fun?
