Fun and Free Camping Games (with Printables)

Summertime is the perfect time to get your family together for a camping adventure! Camping is an affordable vacation that allows you and your family to “unplug,” enjoy the beauty of nature, work together as a team, and get some amazing quality time together. I have so many wonderful memories of camping as a child, especially of sitting around the fire at night singing songs, playing games, and talking with my family and friends. If you are gearing up for a camping trip of your own, we have some awesome (and free) printable camping games that you can take along with you to make your adventure even more fun!

Campfire Tale Card Game

This teamwork-based game turns the classic campfire story into a fun challenge wherein players work together to create a story in 3 minutes. Going around in a circle, each player draws a card with an image on it that he or she then has to incorporate into the progressing story! The pictures on the cards make this game perfect for players of all ages, even non-readers! This game will get your creative juices flowing and, more than likely, result in some pretty silly stories and laughter. Click the button below to get your free printable:

Camping Scattergories

This one puts a camping twist on the classic categorization game! Older children and adults will enjoy the competition and challenge of naming as many items as possible that fit the given category (as well as the letter rolled with the alphabet die).  We have everything you need to print for this game included in the link below, just don’t forget your pencils and alphabet die. Summer Camping Bingo

While you can play this camping-inspired Bingo a couple of different ways, my favorite way is to show each member of the camping trip the Bingo page at the beginning of the trip,  and then wait to play actually Bingo until the last night of the trip. That way it ends up being like a scavenger hunt, where the winner will likely be the person who has worked his or her way through this classic list of “must-do” camping activities! The game of creative description, this camping-themed version of Taboo will have everyone thinking of new ways to describe simple things! Remember: you can’t use the words on the card and no rhyming allowed! This game will be the most fun for children who are comfortable readers (and adults, too, of course!). 5. Here in southern Florida, winter is the best time to camp and homeschooling will make that much easier! My daughter is seven and has never been camping, even though it’s something she has always wanted to do. When she was six months old, she was diagnosed with a catastrophic childhood illness and spent the next six years on medications that had to be kept at a specific temperature, so being without a refrigerator was not an option. She has been medication free for nearly a year now and has not relapsed…so we are going to celebrate with a camping trip this winter. Thanks so much for these printable games; they’ll help to make her long awaited trip even more memorable 😊
