Our family has tried many Latin curriculum. From classical curriculum mainstays to "fun" programs and a couple in between, each program made the kids groan and quickly put me at a disadvantage because I never learned Latin. With Visual Latin, I learn alongside the kids. The lessons are short and clear, and fun! My kids love Dwane Thomas! His goofy jokes and fun personality make it something to look forward to. Latin is now an enjoyable part of our homeschool instead of something I feel we "should" do and the kids hate.
When my older kids "graduate" from Visual Latin, they move on to Dwane's online Latin class for high school students. They have really enjoyed those classes as well.

We just started using this program and so far I'm very pleased. My 10 year old was excited that he knew Latin words from the very first lesson. The instructor is entertaining and the lessons are all video based (on actual DVDs instead of streaming) and engaging. The worksheets are accessible on the website along with an answer key. There were a couple of spots it was unclear exactly what the worksheet was asking the student to do given the placement of the blank line. I figured this would be a good program to reinforce vocabulary and English sentence structure so I'm excited that my son enjoys watching the videos and learning.

My 8 yr old daughter LOVES the Visual Latin videos. She finds them engaging and fun. She begs to do them everyday. I love the worksheets that accompany the videos and she enjoys really learning Latin in a fun way by doing them. I highly recommend Visual Latin.
My son has always wanted to learn Latin and these videos were just the right thing for him. The teacher is engaging and funny at times. The videos are short and the worksheets help with what was just learned.
We used this for my child's freshman year. They really loved it at first but ran into some problems and dropped the study. However, this is more an issue of their temperament than an issue with the program.
