Who is VIPKID?

VIPKID provides an international learning experience to Chinese children – all from the comfort of their homes. Their sophisticated virtual classroom streams passionate, qualified teachers into Chinese homes, linking the world through education. They provide 1-on-1 online full immersion language and content classes based on the US Common Core State Standards.

 

The Position

VIPKID is a fast growing community of elite educators who are teaching right from their home. As an independent contractor, you will be matched 1:1 with Chinese students on their secure virtual learning platform to teach English online. You can make your own schedule and use VIPKID resources to instruct – no lesson planning required!

  • 1-on-1 online full immersion English language and content classes

Hours

A schedule of just 7.5 hours per week! In order to maximize the number of classes you could get scheduled, they recommend you be available for at least 7.5 hours (15 time slots per week at 30 minutes per time slot) during Beijing peak times. The following tends to be the most requested time periods in Beijing time: Monday – Friday 6-10pm, and Saturday – Sunday 9am-10pm. They do not require teachers to work full shifts; but having availability during the times mentioned above could ensure a higher possibility of being booked by our students.

Payment

Make up to $22/hr! The teachers receive a minimum payment of US $14-$18/hour. There are incentives for every lesson, so the payment ranges from US $14-22/hour.

 

Requirements

  • Exposure to the American or Canadian K-12 education system
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience
  • Bachelor’s degree

 

Technical Requirements

Desktop or Laptop with a fast internet connection and audio/video capability

Trish is one of the owners of Hip Homeschool Moms. She has been married to her best friend, David, for 22 years and they have three sons (ages 19, 17 and 15). Trish is from the coast of North Carolina, but they now live in rural West Tennessee on a 40+ acre farm. She has been homeschooling since 2009 and her homeschool style leans towards a Montessori approach with a heavy emphasis on hands-on learning. Trish’s family is Messianic and they love studying the Scriptures, learning Hebrew and growing in their faith and walk daily. In her spare time, Trish loves to travel, write, work in their garden and can regularly be found trying to learn something new, modeling that learning is indeed a life-long endeavor!
