Writing anything is a challenge. So having the option to draw out a story with Jack and Jill( even if it is stick figures!) love that. Our 4yr old was spelling quickly and working out words!(listen and write. ) we are using it again this year!
I started using this curriculum with my daughter, because I thought she needed a different approach to spelling. She is not a great speller and I was desperate. She really enjoys searching for the various "chunks". It's like a puzzle to her. Her spelling has improved. I wouldn't say she's a great speller now, but I have noticed her incorporating it into her writing. If she is stuck on a word I can say it has a "vowel chunk (or whatever)," and it helps her figure it out. I also like that it incorporates learning into the passages. We are using Wild Tales and she has learned many interesting things about animals. I am also using volume 1 with my son. It has really helped him figure out how to spell CVC words.
I really feel this program is why my son is as good of a speller as he is. He looked forward to this every single day it was his favorite. Everything about it is perfect. We did Jack and Jill and he really enjoyed the nursery rhymes a lot.
We used this program for most of the year for my child with extensive spelling issues. We stopped because he is older and felt it was "too young" for him. But, I felt he still experienced good results from the program.
