Song School Latin

I highly recommend Song School Latin! I do have to say my son is excited to study Latin, and my thanks goes to Song School Latin for this enthusiasm! We are now studying Song School Latin II, and his smiling face is all the proof I need that this program is tearless, painless, and FUN! The only thing missing from this bundle is a stuffed Simian! We have purchased many other books from Classic Academic Press, and have had no complaints. On a whole they are an outstanding company that has a loyal customer for life.

I originally purchased Song School Latin because "all the big kids" were studying Latin with their father, and the little ones felt left out. This was before the DVD existed. They *loved* Song School Latin and easily gained a familiarity with the language that let them be part of the family fun. I've used it with three children now, and I expect I'll use it again with my youngest.

Those first kids that used Song School Latin went onto using Latin for Children and did well. Song School had already taught them pronunciation and some basics of nouns and verbs.

I bought this for my first grader last year. He thoroughly enjoyed it. AND, while he was watching it, the fourth grader wandered in and started watching and chanting (she was doing Latin for Children Primer B), and the preschooler would wander in as well! Everyone enjoyed learned Latin with Song School Latin this year.

I wanted a good foundation for English, science, and foreign language. Song School Latin is a great gentle introduction for kids. Playing the song CD in the car even had my then 3-year old learning and understanding Latin roots! Very effective.

We used Song School Latin for a fun, first grade introduction to Latin. My son thoroughly enjoyed it, and when I heard that SSL 2 was coming out, I was disappointed that he'd be too old for it! It was a great way to get our feet wet with Latin. We enjoyed the songs, and the workbook was just the right level of work without being too much for him.

Even though this is geared towards a younger crowd, my older son has also genuinely enjoyed and learned from it. Unless you're specifically wanting your child to reach a certain level of mastery of Latin by a certain age, I think it would be fine to let them float along in this fun program.

We are about half way through SSL 1. My son enjoys the songs and the fun DVD. We have the CD in the car and my three year old loves to sing along too. They greet everyone with " salve!" It is a great intro to Latin vocabulary before digging into grammar with diagramming of declensions and conjugations.

The children and I love "Song School Latin". It's very easy and fun to use.

A gentle introduction to Latin for the younger kids. It was a good foundation for when my kids started a formal Latin program. The catchy songs make it easy to remember the words.

For a simple and fun introduction to Latin studies this is a great curriculum. Memorizing with songs makes retention so much easier for littles and for parents. My 5th grader used this and liked it. Since he was older, I didn't supervise many of the lessons, but when I was around, I liked hearing what I heard. I think it was basic and that is what I was looking for him.

Sing along to these fun songs and learn tons of everyday Latin vocabulary. We keep the cds in our van, we watch the dvds weekly and the review workbooks are easy for lower elementary students to use and practice all the new cool words they've learned. My youngest kids love the My Pet Monkey adventures and The Derivative River. I highly recommend this product.

I would have originally said the CD was a disappointment, the musical quality isn't the best...but since ALL THREE of my kids (ages 2,5,6) ask for it and even the two year old can sing all of the songs...I guess I will change my mind! We watch the short DVD segment on Mondays, listen to the CD in the car a couple times a week, and my first grader fills out the workbook. I can't imagine an easier way to get in some great Latin vocabulary.

This curriculum has made an older more difficult language alive and engaging to my young kids. I had never learned another language myself so I was terrified to teach one but this has made it sooo easy!!

Song School Latin is a great introduction to Latin for early grades. The lessons cover mainly vocabulary, with a short Latin phrase each week. The lessons were short and easy to follow. My children loved the My Pet Monkey DVD segments, but sometimes lost interest in the instructional portion of the DVD. That said, we used a different Latin program prior to discovering Classical Academic Press, and in terms of Latin Instructional DVDS, Classical Academic Press's are the most engaging I've seen.
