We have been using and are still using the U.S. Time travelers series. The timelines are superb and the daily reading is nicely written. Some of the activities my kids didn't enjoy but many of them they did.

HSITW Time Travelers is a wonderful supplement to our 2-year American history course. The material is well written, the activities are very engaging and the games are fun and educational. There are often so many activities for each lesson that you can choose which activity best suits your child. I have used HSITW for Medieval and Renaissance history as well as American history and we have truly enjoyed every lesson!

We started out last fall with the WWII unit study. After jumping into it feet first, we decided it was something interesting enough to make into a year long history study. Now, as we are coming to the end of our 5th grade year, we have decided it may end up being a 2 year study. There are so many extras in there to really branch out and discover, that it can be as in depth or general study as you want it to be. There is a supplement page full of extra books, videos, audiobooks, and more to explore the subject to its fullest potential.

In addition to our "big" WWII project, my daughter was also interested in doing smaller Lap-Pack projects on the Election process and on the 20th Century. So we are doing those as well this spring. We really enjoy the projects and things we have all been learning together as a family. History was nothing like this when I went to school! I might be learning just as much as my daughter!

Pros
In depth coverage of topic, encourages children to explore deeper into parts they are interested in, fun projects, easy to tailor to your needs, affordable
Cons
Little bit confusing at first to organize & print out but once you figure out the way it works, they are easy to follow. Can be time consuming if you plan on doing every single project available. Uses quite a bit of paper & ink if you do all projects bu

I have used the Medieval and Renaissance/Reformation Project Passports. My children who don't care very much for history, loved these sets. I found the Project Passports to provide lots of information as well as projects and activities. There is a lot of information provided, but it is also possible to use them as a stepping stone to learn more about a particular topic of interest. Depending on the choice of projects and activities used they can be easily adapted to different ages and skills. Older students could easily work through them on their own as well. They do require a lot of teacher preparation to use.

I purchased the Explorer and Egypt passport this year. My kid prefers and learns better with creative projects. I can see lapbook being something we will continue to use. The instructions are very detailed and there were lots of pictures to help with those instructions. I had problem printing one of the items, and I got an email reply immediately with further instructions how to make it work for me. It was 100% user error. Some of the projects we chose to skip, but I would say we completed 95% of the lapbook and notebooks. The completed projects and lapbook are very impressive. Her artwork is top notch, and I honestly believe it is a superb value considering all that is included. I will definitely purchase again for the upcoming school year. It is a great way to make history interesting and fun.

We also purchased the timeline book and it is a beautiful notebook that will serve us well into high school. We didn't do as much as I thought we would, but we spent a great deal of time using the explorer and Egypt passport. If you and your kids like crafting and you want them to enjoy learning history, you can't go wrong with homeschool in the woods.

I bought the timeline figures. It makes it so much easier to get my middle schooler to put her timeline together! I love that it saves me the hassle of finding all of the images on my own, and she likes having a visual to add to the date. I struggled a bit at first finding the figures, and found that some figures I needed (we use Tapestry of Grace) were not included. Overall, I'm glad I purchased these, especially since I bought the digital version, so all my kids can use them as they grow.

The Time Travelers series alternates between lesson text and hands on projects. My son and I enjoyed reading the lesson together, then choosing from the wide variety of projects. Some activities were simple paper crafts while others were more elaborate and required additional supplies. Even if we did not do a project, we could read the steps and look at the pictures to get a greater understanding of the topic.
