Dinner In the Kitchen

Easy Skillet Steak

Steak doesn’t have to be difficult to make. This Easy Skillet Steak is my favorite way to cook it and one of my favorite easy recipes.

Easy Skillet Steak

Steak isn’t always on the menu at my house, but my husband and I love it. It’s more of an it-was-on-sale or special occasion dinner idea. My kids usually are in bed by 7:30, and when my husband comes home later from work, we usually get to have a late dinner together alone. When we eat dinner as a family, my kids love recipes like my Taco Mac Casserole, but every once in a while my hubby will bring home takeout, or I’ll make something special and something my kids may not eat. Last weekend I made us a DIY date night at home. I had found some steaks on sale, made a salad and a dessert, and then my hubby picked up a movie on the way home.

To make the perfect skillet steak, you want to first bring your steak to room temperature. If your steak is frozen, you can leave it in the fridge overnight and then set it on the counter for just a few minutes before cooking. I am more of a simple steak cooker and don’t like a lot of seasonings on it. I just seasoned my steak with salt and pepper on each side. You want to heat 2-3 tbsp of oil in a skillet on high. Once your skillet is hot, then you can add your seasoned steak to the skillet. Add 1/2 tbsp of butter to the top of your steak and allow it to cook untouched for 3-4 minutes.

You can then flip the steak and cook on the next side 3-4 minutes. Before removing it from the skillet, check the temperate to make sure it’s done. You want 140-145 degrees for medium rare, 155-160 degrees for medium, and 165-170 for well done.

So simple and easy to make and is the best way I have made steak in the kitchen!
