Chainsaws Recalled – Serious Injury Hazard
Harbor Freight is recalling more than one million Portland, One Stop Gardens and Chicago Electric 14″ electric chainsaws.
Why Recalled
The power switch on the devices can malfunction and allow the chainsaw to continue operating after it’s been turned off, creating a serious injury hazard to the user! The California-based retailer has received 15 reports of chainsaws continuing to operate after being turned off by the user, resulting in three laceration injuries.
The recall is for two different 14″ inch chainsaw models sold under three different brand names:
- The Portland and One Stop Gardens saws are green and black in color and have “Portland” printed on the blades. Model number 67255 or 61592
- The Chicago Electric chainsaw is red and black, with “Chicago Electric” printed on the handle. Model number 67255 or 61592
All recalled chainsaws were sold with a black blade guard.
Where Sold?
The chainsaws were sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores nationwide and online at www.harborfreight.com from May 2009 through February 2018 for about $50.
What Should You Do?
Consumers should stop using the recalled chainsaws and return them to their local Harbor Freight Tools store for a free replacement. Replacement products will be available on May 21, 2018.
