Our homeschooling journey began in the middle of my son's freshman year so he had a semester of physical science at a parochial school and we used this text for the rest of the year. We found however that Apologia's book was much more interesting to my student because of the thorough explanation of how the world is a product of God's design. My student did the reading and questions on his own and nightly we would discuss at the dinner table what he learned. He was anxious to share with my husband what he had gained from this book.
My son enjoyed Apologia science courses in high school and he took three at a co-op with labs in class. He liked the way the material was presented in the book and felt it was easy to understand yet comprehensive.
I love Alopogia Science Curiiculum as it is very torough, but still simple enough for the student to understand. My oldest child used this last year and my youngest two will be using it in a couple of years.
I do think Apologia does a good job of covering a subject. However, I do not have time to find all the lab incidentals. We ended up using a different curriculum for our second child. He has enjoyed it much more and I've been less stressed.
