As with all the elementary age Apologia sciences we have tried, we really enjoyed this one. If I had it to do over again, I would have done this one first, just because of all of them, it is probably the one best geared toward the younger kids. Plenty of information for 4th grade and under for a full year or 1/2 year for 5th and 6th grades. As a former high school science teacher, when asked for my recommendation for science, I always recommend the Apologia series.

I have used this book twice: once when my oldest were K and 2nd, then just recently with a 4 yr old, 1st, 4th and 6th. Engaging lessons, easy to do projects, memorable! ! Can't ask for anything more! Loved the Pluto debate, they still try to sway each other over to their side!!

We have used for our Kindergartener and First Grader. They both enjoyed the book and the junior note book. The activity book is totally optional, but includes much for this age range. Many other texts/activity books tend to be very writing intensive.

We enjoyed studying Apologia's Astronomy. Having the Jr. Notebook for my young students made it more interactive and reinforced concepts taught. Would definitely recommend that as a companion to the text.

We did this in a small co-op of 5-7th grade girls. We did 1 module per 2 weeks, could have gone faster for more of a challenge. Love the biblical worldview and how it points to God as the Creator.

I first used this several years ago with a 3rd grader. He was a good solid reader and was able to handle the text himself. He very much enjoyed creating his own notebook and doing the easy experiments.

After coming back to this book more recently with another child, I found that it did not contain enough information and projects to satisfy her and so I had to supplement with some additional material. She is quite interested in astronomy thanks in part to her older siblings. There are plenty of good resources out there on observing the night sky which can be great fun.

I recommend this book as a good elementary textbook introduction to astronomy, but feel free to supplement with other resources which are readily available on line or in a library.

My son and I used this curriculum for his 4th grade year and loved it! He couldn't get enough information and because everything is so interesting and hands on he remembers almost everything he learned. I definitely recommend the Notebooking Journal which will become a keepsake!

It is a great book but it just didn't work with my family. It is very reading intensive. My son wasn't able to read it on his own so I had to read it to him and it was just to much with everything else I was reading.

This is a great introduction to astronomy. It is good for younger ages but my 5th grader learned from it as well. However, we often pulled other books from the library to get more in depth information about some of the topics. As a homeschool teacher I love that the lesson plans were so well laid out. I could pretty much pick it up and start teaching with very little preparation needed. We used the journaling notebooks as well and really liked them.

We used this our first year of homeschooling for 1st grade and I plan on using agaim with my kindergartener this year. I like that there are extras that are optional and they give a lot of extra information. You also can easily skip an experiment and not be left behind. We love Apologia books. This is a good first book to use.

This is a great curriculum. I love it's apologetic nature. I bought the jr note booking journal and lab kit tongi with it. The experiments use common items, however you might not always have them on hand. So, the lab kit is nice to have everything ready for you. One less stress to worry about.

The readings can be long, so if you have little ones that have a hard time sitting still and listening this maybe difficult. However, you can break it up to make it easier.

the textbook is beautiful. I like the notebooking journal you can get (they also have a junior notebook for younger children) with the book that has hands on activities to accompany the text. The information does not go too in depth but it would be easy to supplement if desired. The notebooking journal comes with a syllabus that allows you to finish the book doing work two days a week. We have enjoyed the projects for each unit. The work can be done independently for older students.
